From The Desk Of Founder, Sammy Knight

I wanted my very first blog post to be an inside look at Harper East and the driving force behind the website. I wish I could say that I am writing this from the comfort of Harper East’s glitzy corporate headquarters, but the truth is that half the time our office is located in the Starbucks downstairs. This is due to the less-than-glamorous fact that our actual office is covered from floor to ceiling with boxes of merchandise, shipping materials, and a semi-amateur photo studio set-up… and I wouldn’t have it any other way  : )

This post is less about the products we are selling and more about the thought behind the business. I have always dreamt of opening my own boutique one day, but as we ALL know – life gets in the way and we all have bills to pay. My dreams got lost in the shuffle as I scurried around from corporate job to corporate job trying to “make something of myself”. As my “success” was rising, my happiness was plummeting. About 1 year ago I made a decision to take all of the money I had saved up and make an investment… in myself! It wasn’t much, but it was enough to start my web business as I continued to work my full time career.

Many sleepless nights and stressed out days later, Harper East is FINALLY a reality! But so far it has been well worth it. We are starting off small, but we have BIG plans. At first it was hard for me to place smaller orders and take the baby steps that it requires to get a small business going without digging yourself into a hole. Over time I realized that I should just embrace what Harper East is – a brand new, small-time online gift boutique run on savings and a dream. Our inventory will grow as we grow as a brand!

The goal of writing all of this out is in hopes that just ONE girl reads this and is inspired to GO for it! Whatever it is that you want to do or start, just make it happen. It will be tough and sometimes it will be financially painful, but if you believe in yourself and in your ideas then you will achieve greatness. Life is way too short to be stuck in a cubicle making calls when there are beautiful dreams out there to be realized every day!

Cheers Dears!
